In-Depth Information
Camera tools allow you to change the viewing angle and distance as you work in your scene.
5 Choose Rotate the 3D Object ( ) from the Options panel and click and drag in the scene to rotate the
viewing angle of the current view. Note that the location of your viewpoint isn't changing, but the ori-
entation or angle of your view is changing. Rotate the viewing angle so you can see some of the depth
of the extruded text and shapes.
6 For controlling the tilt angle of the camera, choose Roll the 3D Object and click and drag in the scene
to adjust the rotation of the camera on its viewing axis.
7 Use all of the 3D camera tools to create a view that shows all of your objects in the 3D scene. Save
this view as a new camera by selecting the View drop-down menu in the Properties panel and choos-
ing Save. Give the new 3D view the name Perspective view - All Objects . This view is added at the
very bottom of the 3D panel. Clicking the saved view returns the camera to this exact position and ro-
tation.
Next, you will position these objects relative to each other.
Using the 3D object tools
You have successfully changed your viewing angle by changing the position and rotation of your current
view. Now you will change the position, rotation, and scale of the various objects in your scene. One fea-
ture that is particularly helpful when transforming objects is the secondary window that appears in the
upper left corner when a 3D layer is selected. This secondary window allows you to see your scene from
multiple viewing angles simultaneously. Another important tool for transforming objects is the 3D Axis,
and you will use this tool to move, rotate, and scale individual objects.
1 With the Move tool ( ) active in the Tools panel, select the Sphere object that you created. You can
click the sphere on the canvas or you can click the Sphere element in the 3D panel. The Sphere be-
comes highlighted and has a bounding box drawn around it with a red, green, and blue 3D Axis at the
center of the object. If you don't see this, turn on the axis by choosing View > Show > 3D Selection.
