7 Once you determine the crop area, press Enter or Return, or click the checkmark icon ( ) in the upper-
right corner of the Options bar. Since the resolution is reduced, your image file shrinks in its view
size.
If you want to cancel a crop, press the Esc key or click the Cancel Current Crop Operation button
( ), also in the upper-right corner of the Control panel.
8 Choose Image > Image Size; in the Image Size dialog box, you see that the image area is now cropped
to the required dimensions.
Applying the Unsharp Mask filter to an image
We recommend that you sharpen an image after resizing it, since resizing the image can cause it to be-
come blurry. The following figure shows the image before and after the Unsharp feature is applied. The
Unsharp Mask feature sharpens the image based on levels of contrast, while keeping the areas that don't
have contrasting pixels smooth. In this lesson, you will apply Unsharp Masking using a Smart filter.
An example of an image before (left) and after (right) unsharp masking is applied.
Follow these steps to apply the Unsharp Mask filter:
1 Choose View > 100% or double-click the Zoom tool ( ).
