Adding a vector mask
In this next section, you will paint on the of the Right Side layer.

Make sure that you have the Right Side layer selected, and click the Add layer mask icon ( ) at the
bottom of the layer panel.

Select your Paint Brush by pressing the
B
key, then right-click the canvas to bring up the brush selec-
tion menu. Choose a soft round brush (Hardness 0% and Opacity 50%) and paint out some of the hard
edges. Now that the right side is looking better, it's time to look at the left side.

Next stage is to soften the left side layer's edge. Using the same technique as with the Right Side layer,
create a new mask, and using a soft brush, paint around the sharp edges.

Retouching the frog's nose
Now you will work on the frog's nose. You will start by opening up a different file from your lessons
folder.

Choose File > Open, and from the advps06lessons folder, open the image called
frog_2.tif
, an image
of the frog appears.

Select the Lasso tool ( ), reset your feather value to
0px
, and then click and drag a selection around
the nose.
