in KNIME are a number of statistical and data mining tools as well as
data manipulation nodes. One of the really useful features is the support
for writing code snippets in R, Java, Perl or Python, so if a KNIME node
is not available for a particular application it is possible to write
workarounds. Two examples of using KNIME and R for common
metabolomics workfl ows are shown below.
4.6.1 Componentisation using mzMine
The fi rst workfl ow will process the output of mzMine and componentise
the identifi ed metabolites. In other words, all identifi ed adducts of a
metabolite will be summed together in order to produce a component
