promotion of tourism, they become closely linked with the
local people and local communities. The public are now
paying more attention to the geoparks in China.
For the purpose of the harmonious development of Chi-
nese geoparks, there needs to be focus on the following
aspects: institutional improvement, protection of geological
vestiges, the functions of popularization, promotion and
education, cooperation and communication, and research
and management. Through the aims of geoconservation, the
geoparks are being established in an orderly way. In this
manner, the environment, the geopark, and the socio-
economy are all harmoniously developed. As such, the
sustainable development of the geoparks is playing an
increasingly important role in China.
