Other Wet n' Wild attractions include
Blastaway Beach
with a kid-size version
ofthe adult menu. The area is located to the left ofthe main gate; look forthe oversize
sand castle capped off with a big blue bucket. The bucket actually fills with water and
tips over, soaking the people in front of the castle. Replacing the former children's
area in 2012, Blastaway Beach is the largest water park children's playground in Flor-
ida. The giant sand castle alone spans two pools (upper and lower), covering more
than 15,000 square feet with more than 85,000 gallons of water powering more than
100soakers,jets,waterfalls, watercannons,17slides,andtheaforementioned bucket.
The 17,000-square-foot wave pool at
Surf Lagoon
is perfect for body bobbing.
If you prefer to ride the waves with tubes, you can rent those at the main rental stand.
Another great way to relax is the
Lazy River.
Be forewarned though: The circuit is
short and the current fast. If you lose your tube, swim down the river or wait patiently
until an empty one passes within reach.
Wake Zone,
situated on a lake roughly the same size as the rest of the park,
offers wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and tubing. The lines can be long, especially
since the attraction only runs from noon until sunset and is open on weekends only
mid-March-June,dailyduringthesummer,andweekendsonlySeptember-mid-Octo-
ber. Be sure to call before going to Wet 'n Wild to see if the area is open on the day of
your visit.
When you get hungry, the main food pavilions are the centrally located
Bubba's
BBQ, Manny's Pizza,
and
Surf Grill,
together offering such staples as burgers,
pizza, and barbecue-pork sandwiches, as well as more-nutritious (and nontraditional)
items such as veggie burgers and tabbouleh. Wait times are long, and prices are high
but not outrageous. Guests may bring a picnic, but alcohol and glass containers are
not allowed (although beer can be purchased inside the park).
