PART SEVEN
The MAGIC
KINGDOM
OPENED IN 1971, the Magic Kingdom was the first of Walt Disney World's four theme
parks to be built. Many of the attractions found here are originals from that park open-
ing, and a few—including Cinderella Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Splash
Mountain—have helped define the basic elements of theme-park attractions the world
over. Indeed, the Magic Kingdom is undoubtedly what most people think of when Walt
Disney World is mentioned.
Stroller, wheelchair , and ECV/ESV rentals are to the right of the train station,
and lockers are on the station's ground floor. On your left as you enter Main Street is
City Hall , the center for information, lost and found, guided tours, and entertainment
schedules. ATMs are underneath the Main Street railroad station, near the Transport-
ation and Ticket Center (TTC), near City Hall, near the Frontierland shooting gallery,
near Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland, and inside the Tomorrowland Arcade.
Down Main Street and left around the Central Plaza (toward Adventureland) are the
Baby Care Center and First Aid. Across from Disney's Port Orleans Resort, Best
Friends Pet Resort provides a comfortable home-away-from-home for Fido, Fluffy,
and all their pet pals.
If you don't already have a handout park map , get one at City Hall. The handout
lists all attractions, shops, and eateries; provides helpful information about first aid,
baby care, and assistance for the disabled; and gives tips for good photos. It also lists
times for the day's special events, live entertainment, Disney character parades, con-
certs, and other activities. Additionally, it tells when and where to find Disney charac-
ters.
