In-Depth Information
Maternity bathing suit: If you don't own one, purchase a maternity bathing suit;
you will be glad you did. A relaxing afternoon at the pool or a float down the lazy
river in the water parks is wonderful.
At the parks take frequent breaks; put your legs up! The Baby Care Centers also
welcome expectant moms, and you can sit and relax in a pleasant atmosphere. Go
back to the hotel for a nap during the day, and plan a day away from the parks. Go
splurge and have a massage; your back and feet will be grateful. Sleep is precious, so
don't overdo it; a good night of sleep is better than all the fireworks in the sky.
Heed the warnings! Here is a short list of rides that are absolutely not suitable
for expecting moms: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad; DINOSAUR; Expedition
Everest; Kali River Rapids; Kilimanjaro Safaris; Mission: SPACE; Rock 'n'
Roller Coaster; Star Tours; Space Mountain; Splash Mountain; Test Track; To-
morrowland Speedway; and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror . Remember, this
is just a short list; use your own best judgment.
A word about the water parks: Obviously, experiencing the offerings of Crush
'n' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon or barreling down Summit Plummet at Blizzard
Beach is ill-advised if you're in the family way, but the water parks offer great lazy
rivers and pools, as well as shady beaches where you can relax and let the rest of your
group enjoy the wild things.
Tips for Nursing Mothers
Baby Care Centers are available at all Walt Disney World parks, and nursing mothers
will not have difficulty finding a comfortable, clean, and pleasant place to take care
of their infants. In addition to breastfeeding rooms equipped with rocking chairs and
love seats, the child-care facilities have sinks for washing and a room with toys and
videos for your older children. Should you need diapers, baby clothes, children's
medicines, and other small necessities, Disney has those items available right there
for a fee.
Here are some tips to remember when visiting:
• Getting there by plane: Remember to nurse your child at takeoff and landing. It helps to
open the baby's ears and also eliminates discomfort due to pressure changes.
