Evidence of Professional Development
Both K.F.'s home page and “Professional” Web page link to or list examples
of K.F.'s professional development. K.F. even includes a picture of her
nametag from a recent educational conference she attended on this page.
Evidence of Student Work
With the exception of her home and “Professional” pages, the remaining Web
pages in her portfolio include evidence of student work. Pictures and
scanned images of student worksheets are included as visual features. This
is an example of how K.F. uses evidence of student work to display her
ability to create teacher-made materials and assessments as well as
advertises how she motivate students. K.F. writes (http://durak.org/
kathy/portfolio/affective.html), “I created this word-seek game with each
student's name to motivate and involve . Students seemed to really enjoy
hearing their name and seeing themselves 'in-print.'”
Curriculum, Management, and Assessment Measures
K.F. refers to her experience teaching the curriculum on her “Instruction” Web
page (http://durak.org/kathy/portfolio/instruction.html). She writes, “Vionie
identifies and draws shapes seen around the classroom. Although handouts and
district-endorsed worksheets have a role in my curriculum, it's great seeing
what students can create on their own when presented with a new concept or
challenge, such as my activity for kindergarten students to identify and draw
found shapes”.
K.F. also presents examples of her management skills and teaching approaches
on her “Presentation” Web page (http://durak.org/kathy/portfolio/
presentation.html). Here, K.F. describes her ability to provide instruction for
individual students and create instructional centers.
To demonstrate her assessment measures, K.F. created an “Assessment” Web
page (http://durak.org/kathy/portfolio/assessment.html). This includes the fol-
lowing statement:
Assessment of my students must include a variety of methods in
order to measure their range of capabilities. Objective records
balance subjective compilations of growth and exemplary works.
