OVERVIEW Whispering Canyon Café is like a Western-themed 50's Prime Time Café. While
the antics have been toned down in recent years, guests requesting a bottle of ketchup will
find that 25 bottles from around the restaurant appear. Don't be surprised if your drink re-
fill comes in a gallon jug or a two-ounce miniature jar, depending on how generous your
server is feeling. All-you-care-to-enjoy platters are the most popular here. Breakfast brings
scrambled eggs, Western home fries, bacon, sausage, waffles, buttermilk biscuits, and saus-
age gravy. A la carte choices include the usual. Lunch and dinner platters include family-
style mixed greens tossed in an apple-vinaigrette dressing and freshly baked cornbread.
Start with three: smoked pork ribs, barbecue-pulled pork, herb-baked chicken, beef strip
loin, market fish, or sausage, along with vegetables, mashed potatoes, cowboy-style baked
beans, and corn on the cob. Bring your sense of humor to enjoy this loud, raucous restaur-
ant, particularly at dinner.

OVERVIEW Serving seafood classics in a bland dining room, Captain's Grille had its menu
and décor revamped in early 2014. New breakfast items include the $14 Butter-poached
Lobster, Asparagus, Chive Cream, and Savory Hash Brown, in addition to the excellent
breakfast buffet that includes fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, smoked salmon, bread
pudding, and more. It's an excellent value. Lunch is sandwich and burger fare, with the
New England-style Lobster Roll on Butter-toasted Parker House Roll leading the way. Din-
ner brings more expensive items like the classic New York strip steak, snow crab legs with
new potatoes and corn on the cob, and cabernet-braised short ribs. Kids may enjoy a burger,
chicken nuggets, beef kebabs, baked fish, or shrimp skewers. Décor remains forgettable,
but it's easy to secure a last-minute reservation, and food and service are excellent.
