In-Depth Information
Quick service fare has improved at the Studios, but is still lacking compared to the other
parks. Best are Studio Catering Co. and Starring Rolls, both of which serve above-aver-
age sandwiches. Starring Rolls sandwiches are served cold, while many of Studio Catering
Co.'s are freshly pressed and served warm. Sunset Ranch Market offers the widest selection
of food, including barbecue, pizza, hamburgers, and turkey legs, but seating is all outside
and the multiple storefronts that make up the market necessitate standing in more than one
line if you'd like to order different kinds of food.
We're less enthusiastic about most of the other options. Toy Story Pizza Planet serves up
standard Disney pizza in a loud atmosphere, but the setting does not resemble Pizza Plan-
et from the movie, making it disappointing for guests expecting more. Backlot Express is
your spot for typical Disney burgers and chicken nuggets, in addition to hot dog and sand-
wich offerings. It's richly themed with a lot of covered outdoor seating, but the food is de-
cidedly below average. Finally, ABC Commissary offers the most air-conditioned seating
and a newly improved menu featuring an Asian salad with chicken and a couscous, quinoa,
and arugula salad with salmon, but the steak is nowhere near as good as Liberty Inn's at Ep-
cot. Overall, we recommend Studio Catering Co., Starring Rolls, and Sunset Ranch Market
first, with Backlot Express and ABC Commissary as air-conditioned backups for simpler
food.

CUISINE American comfort food. HOURS 11am-park close. DDP Yes. DISCOUNTS 20% TiW.
PRICES Lunch/Dinner Appetizers: $6-$11; Entrees: $14-$24. Kids : $9.
OVERVIEW This nostalgic throwback to a simpler time features a number of period piece
knick-knacks as well as televisions that show clips from various 1950s era shows. Themed
to Mom's kitchen, your servers will take up responsibility for raising you right and dole out
punishment as required. The kids are sure to get a kick out of your server chastising Dad
for wearing his Mickey Ears to the table. A good sense of humor is required to enjoy the
fried chicken, pot roast, meatloaf, and Mom's other comfort foods. Fried chicken, the fresh
fish, and the chicken pot pie are your best bets. Request a table with a TV.

OVERVIEW Serving up the best food at Hollywood Studios, this signature restaurant focuses
on Filets of Beef and Blue Lump Crab Spring Rolls rather than burgers and chicken nug-
gets. This replica of the original Brown Derby retains much of the glitz and glamour of
the 1930s original, with white linen tablecloths, tuxedo-clad servers, and an exquisite eye
for detail. That is, if it weren't for all the guests wearing cargo shorts, WDW t-shirts, and
Goofy hats. Kids are unlikely to connect with the restaurant, but they are more than wel-
