Space Mountain
RANKING Don't miss. EMH Morning, Evening. FP+ Yes. High priority. TYPE Roller coaster
in the dark. REQUIREMENTS 44” or taller.
WHAT TO EXPECT In one of the park's most popular rides, small three-person rockets,
coupled together in flights of two, blast into the darkness of space and traverse sharp curves
and minor dips past planets, stars, moons, and meteors before returning to the launch fa-
cility. SCARY FACTOR Moderate. Because the ride is in the dark, speed seems much higher
than it is, and everything that happens is unexpected. This scares some. But otherwise it's
a very mild coaster. CAN WE HANDLE IT? Motion sickness typically is not an issue, but the
ride's jerkiness can aggravate (or create, Josh says) back/neck/shoulder pain.
WHEN TO GO At park open, in the final hour of operation, or with FastPass+. EXPECT TO
WAIT 45-120+ minutes in the afternoon. LENGTH 3 minutes. WHERE TO SIT The six seats in
each coupled-together ride vehicle are single file. Front seats are the most fun. If you are
concerned a kid might panic, sit behind them so you can comfort them by touch. The third
and fourth seats are the least jerky.
Stitch's Great Escape!
Skippable. EMH
Morning, Evening. FP+
No. TYPE
Audio-Animatronics show.
RANKING
REQUIREMENTS 40” or taller.
WHAT TO EXPECT Stitch's Great Escape replaces a prior show that was great, but far too
scary to be in the Magic Kingdom—or perhaps anywhere at Disney World. However,
Stitch's Great Escape replaced only one of the many scary elements of the old show,
added the annoyances of Stitch—Animatronic belching, anyone? —and now scares kids
and bores adults. SCARY FACTOR High. Guests are trapped in separated individual seats
while scary things happen around them, often in the dark. This attraction has the highest
potential to scare kids tall enough for it of any Disney World attraction, and because of
the seat design, parents can't comfort kids until the end of the “show”. CAN WE HANDLE IT?
Don't go if your kids have been scared by anything else at Disney World.
WHEN TO GO Anytime attraction. See it when waits are long at other rides, or you need to
get out of the weather. EXPECT TO WAIT 5-10 minutes in the afternoon. LENGTH 10 minutes.
WHERE TO SIT On a different ride.
Tomorrowland Speedway
RANKING For little kids: don't miss. For everyone else: skippable. EMH Morning, Evening.
FP+ Yes. High priority only if you have little kids. TYPE Slow, go-cart-style ride on a highly
constrained track. REQUIREMENTS 32” or taller to ride, 54” or taller to drive.
WHAT TO EXPECT An opportunity for kids to drive or ride along a speedway-themed track
in a small two-seater car, at speeds of less than 8 miles an hour and along a guide rail that
prevents getting out of their lane. Go-cart-style rides can be fun for adults, but this largely
isn't. Young kids tall enough to drive love it, and waits can be long. SCARY FACTOR A re-
minder that Junior is turning 16 far too soon. CAN WE HANDLE IT? Both the queue and the
