In-Depth Information
Those embarking on a possible once-in-a-lifetime trip should note that the peak of the
hurricane season ends in early October, and that a few rides are almost invariably closed
for refurbishments in January and early February.
If these dates won't work, Chapter 4 offers a blow-by-blow overview of everything to
expect all year long.
Where to Stay [Chapter 5]
Stay at Disney's Art of Animation, Pop Century, Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans
Riverside, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary Resort, or the Polynesian
Village Resort (if arriving after the main pool has re-opened).
We suggest that you stay in a Disney-owned resort hotel. While more expensive than
hotels operated by third parties, they are also typically:
• Much more fun
• Much more convenient
• Much more “Disney”
The Disney-owned hotels also offer unique perks. The most advantageous perks in-
clude:
• Free airport transport to and from your hotel via Disney's Magical Express.
• Free and frequent transport from your hotel to the parks, waterparks, and Down-
town Disney.
• Free parking at both your hotel and the parks.
• The right to book dining ten days further out than non-Disney guests, which can
be critical for high-demand meals like dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant.
• The right to book FastPass+ reservations for key attractions beginning 60 days in
advance of arrival. At press-time, non-Disney guests (except those at the Swan or
Dolphin) can only book these 30 days in advance.
• Access to the various Disney Dining Plans, which are a convenient budgeting tool
even if they often don't present much actual savings.
Perhaps even more important than any of these quantifiable perks is the comfort and
safety of staying inside the “Disney bubble”, far removed from the hustle, bustle, and worry
of the outside world. Staying on property is the easiest way to forget about life's problems
and truly enjoy an immersive experience together. While a vacation staying off-site is gen-
erally less expensive at first blush, consider additional expenses like resort fees, car rental,
and the price of your time. There is no more convenient way to experience Walt Disney
World for the first time than staying at one of their resorts. There is a reason Disney com-
mands premium prices and why so many return visitors stay on property over and over
again. Strongly consider the additional cost of an on-property stay and find out for your-
self.
Specifically, we recommend, depending on budget:
