In-Depth Information
With your cursor in the 3D window, press Alt + the
A key to play an animation. At this stage, the anima-
tion will simply show the plane descending and dis-
appearing out of view. Press Esc to end the anima-
tion. If you look in the properties window - “Scene”
tab, you will see that a gravitational effect is applied
(the “Gravity” box is ticked); therefore, the plane de-
scends due to this force.
Look at the “Physics” tab in the properties win-
dow (Figure 12.81). Adding a cloth modifier has
automatically added data for the physical proper-
ties of a cloth. Note that “Cloth Presets” is applied
under the “Presets” tab. There is a drop down se-
lection menu here for a variety of material types.
Leave the preset as the default setting. Also note
that there is no tick in the “Pinning” box, therefore
this property is not activated. “Pinning” refers to
pinning the cloth in place such as to a notice board or clothesline.
In the 3D window with the plane selected, tab into edit mode, deselect all the vertices,
and then select only the two vertices on the rear corners of the mesh. Go to the properties
window - “Object Data” button - “Vertex Groups” tab and click on the + sign to add a ver-
tex group. With the two vertices selected press “Assign,” which assigns the two vertices to
