A meal at this fine-dining restaurant
set in a mansion with a lovely garden (used in the dry season for outdoor dining) is a
pricey affair. Dishes are expertly prepared, if overly fussy, and run the gamut from foie
gras to prime rib.
There's an excellent wine cellar and a stylish cocktail lounge. For dinner guests, free
transfers in one of its vintage motors can be arranged.

head directly to this boisterous Rakhine-themed grilled-seafood hall, popular with local
families on a night out. The eponymous
monte
(actually
moún-di
) is a noodle soup
(K600) featuring rice noodles and an intensely peppery broth.
If you prefer your pepper on the side, order Rakhine salad, a spicy noodle salad. And
of course there's all manner of grilled crab, oyster, shrimp, squid and shellfish, all for
low prices.
