Since
Hilary Clinton stayed here there's been a steady stream of VIPs checking in. It's easy to
see why. It might not be Yangon's most historic or charming hotel but it's very profes-
sionally run and offers more style than most at this price point. The large pool, gym and
excellent spa are other pluses.
Nonguests can use the pool for $10.

If one of the Summit's room overlooking the jewel-encrusted Shwedagon Paya isn't for
you, feel free to take the same type of room overlooking the pool; they're a little cheaper.
A necessary refurbishment of some rooms was underway during our most recent visit.

In an out-of-the-
way location, near the Israeli Embassy, and run by an Australian-Burmese couple as an
extension of their bicycle tour company, the Inn offers cramped but fully equipped
rooms. New and more spacious rooms were under construction during our visit.

If you'd prefer chilling out in a serene lakeside location, this mammoth property, de-
signed by a Russian in the 1950s, offers big, light-filled rooms with wooden floors and
balconies. There's a good-sized pool and tennis courts.
