Lesson 9
Distributing
Finished Media
After you've discovered your acquired assets and gone through the
editorial and Review and Approve process, you're now ready to deliver
your media. In Final Cut Server, there are two main methods for dis-
tributing finished media: using watchers and metadata subscriptions.
In Lesson 4, you learned how to use watchers to add files to the Final
Cut Server catalog as assets. The methodology is the same in this lesson,
except in this case you don't add the files to Final Cut Server as assets;
you transcode and deliver them to their intermediate or final destina-
tions. Watch folders allow you to automate these copy and transcode
responses by stacking responses on top of each other. For example, you
can have a watcher that creates deliverables for Apple TV, iPhone, or a
web streaming clip, and then sends an email notification after they're
delivered.
