Working with Layer styles
Because you went to a lot of trouble creating the effects that produced the gold
dividers in the previous section, you'll be pleased to know all this work can be
easily reused with layer styles. Layer styles store everything that you have con-
figured in the Layer Style dialog box, including layer effects and/or layer blend-
ing options. In the following steps you will save a layer style, apply it to another
layer, change some of its parameters, and save it as another layer style.

1. Continue using Digital-Art-5.psd . Perform the same actions that
you did in step 1 in the section “Dividers Layer” earlier in this chap-
ter, but name the layer Lower Dividers .

2. On the Lower Dividers layer, perform the tasks described in steps 2
and 3 of the previous section, “Dividers Layer.”
3. Right-click the eye icon on the Lower Dividers layer and choose
Show/Hide All Other Layers from the context menu.
4. Double-click the word Effects under the Dividers layer to open the
Layer Style dialog box. Click the New Style button, type Gold in the
Name box, and select Include Layer Effects. Click OK.
