as vector objects. Let's create a couple of shapes and see how this works.
1. If the evolving logo design isn't still open, go to the topic's Down-
loads page at www.sybex.com/go/photoshopessentials , br owse to
ChapterĀ 5, get the file Logo2.psd , and open it in Photoshop.
2. Select the Background layer in the Layers panel.
3. Select the Rounded Rectangle tool and type 25 px in the Radius text
box on the options bar. Drag out a rounded rectangle that frames the
logo. Open the Fill type drop-down, select the color picker, type hex
color c1c1c1 (light gray) in the # box, and click OK.
4. Select the Direct Selection tool in the toolbox. Drag a window around
four anchor points and move them up or down, left or right until one
half of the rounded rectangle frames the logo symmetrically. Repeat
this by selecting the other four anchor points and move the other
half of the rounded rectangle into the approximate positions shown
in Figure 5.14.

5. Choose Image a Trim and click OK. The white border is trimmed
away. Choose Image a Canvas Size. Select Relative in the Canvas
Size dialog box and change the drop-downs to Percent. Type 10 in the
