Figure 14.18
The syntax including the simple effects analyses.
Examining the lines one by one in Figure 14.3, we can derive the following
summary:
For the teenagers, both the females and males reported significantly
more jealousy when their partners were physically attracted to some-
one else than when their partners were emotionally attracted to
someone else.
For the students in their middle twenties, males reported signifi-
cantly more jealousy when their partners were physically attracted
to someone else than when their partners were emotionally attracted
to someone else; for females, there was no difference between the
two jealousy conditions.
Figure 14.20 presents the results of the simple effects comparing lev-
els of gender . We are thus comparing females to males for emotional
attraction and we are comparing females to males for physical attraction
separately for the two age groups; with respect to Figure 14.3, for each plot
we are determining if the two data points at emotional attraction differ
significantly and we are determining if the two data points at physical
attraction differ significantly.
