9.8.1 POST HOC TEST FOR THE MAIN EFFECT OF POLITICS
The independent variable
politics
has three levels (liberal, moderate, and
conservative), and in order to determine which groups differ from which
we will perform a post hoc test. From the main menu select
Analyze

General Linear Model
➜
Univariate
to reach the main dialog window
and configure your analysis as you did for the omnibus analysis.
The one difference in configuring the analysis between the omnibus
analysis and the simple effects analysis is that you will ask SPSS to perform
a Tukey post hoc test. Click the
PostHoc
pushbutton that will bring you to
the window shown in Figure 9.11. Click over
politics
from the
Factor(s)
panel to the
Post Hoc Tests for
panel, and check the
Tuke y
procedure
in the set of tests grouped under the heading
Equal Variances Assumed
because the Levene test indicated that our data have met the assumption
of homogeneity of variance. Click
