The box plot, as shown in Figure 4-56, is an overview visualization that pro-
vides a general sense of distribution. The box in the middle is defined by
the lower and upper quartiles. That is, whereas the median (the line in the
middle) represents the halfway point, the lower quartile represents where
one-quarter of the values are lower, and the upper quartile represents
where one-quarter of the values are higher.
