Getting Started with Sonic Pi
To create music in this adventure you will use an application designed to be used on
the Raspberry Pi called Sonic Pi . Sonic Pi was created by Dr Sam Aaron, a live coder of
music, and is based on his more complex music system called Overtone . Sonic Pi may
already be installed automatically as part of NOOBS Raspbian.
For a video that walks you through setting up Sonic Pi on your Rasperry Pi, select
the SettingUpSonicPi video from the companion website at www.wiley.com/
go/adventuresinrp .
To check whether Sonic Pi is installed on your Raspberry Pi, click on the main menu and
navigate to Education ➜ Sonic Pi. If Sonic Pi is not on the menu, it is not already installed
and you will need to download the application using the following instructions.
