Make sure that you are using the most up to date NOOBS Raspbian operating
system available.
1.
In an LXTerminal window, first type the following command to update your
application packages:
sudo apt-get update

Next, type the following command to download and install Sonic Pi.
sudo apt-get install sonic-pi
Once Sonic Pi is installed, it will appear on the main menu under Education. If it does
not, simply reboot your Raspberry Pi and it will appear. Figure 7-2 shows the installa-
tion command being executed.

To be able to hear the sounds, you will need to connect your Raspberry Pi to a
sound device. This can be headphones/earphones or speakers connected to the
Pi using the jack port, or an HDMI TV or monitor with built-in speakers, connected
with an HDMI cable.
