In-Depth Information
Smart Brush Tool workflow:
1 After making a initial Smart Brush Tool, click onto the New Select mode button
in the Options Bar or the floating palette to tell Elements that you want to create a
new adjustment selection.
2 Go to the Options Bar and select the type of enhancement from the Preset Chooser
pop-up menu.
3 Now paint over the areas that you wish to select and enhance.
4 After the first selection area is drawn, the tool's mode automatically changes to
Add to Selection, so to add another adjustment you must click the New Selection
button once again.
5 To reselect an existing adjustment area, make sure that the Smart Brush Tool is
selected and then click onto the colored icon associated with the selected area.
Now you can add to the existing selection by painting over new areas or change to
the Subtract from Section mode and remove selection parts.
Multiple Smart Brush Tool
effects can be applied to
a photo. Each effect will
have a separate entry in
the Layers palette as well
as an icon that is displayed
on the surface of the pho-
to when the tool is select-
ed.
The Detail Smart Brush Tool
Grouped with the Smart Brush Tool on the Elements' toolbar is another ver-
sion of the feature called the Detail Smart Brush Tool. The icon used for the
tool is almost identical, but it features a fine-tipped brush rather than a wider
brush design. The Detail Smart Brush Tool, as its name suggests, is used for
finer work which contrasts with the Smart Brush Tool that has been de-
signed for more broad sweep application. Importantly, selecting the Detail Smart Brush Tool
version switches the way that the feature works. When painting with the tool, the brush
draws the selection area in the same way as the Selection Brush.
