Greeting Cards
Creating greeting or birthday cards custom-
ized with your own pictures and heartfelt
message is a good way to make the card-
giving experience a little more personal.
Like Photo Books and Photo Calendar proj-
ects, the Greeting Cards workflow includes a
range of sizes and styles of card that can be
produced online or printed at the desktop.
See Chapter 18 for more information about
editing your Greeting Card project.

Start by multi-selecting photos from the
Organizer workspace before choosing
Greeting Card from the Create task pane.
You will now be presented with a choice of
sizes and online providers. Remember now
all Greeting Cards designs can also be printed
locally so there is no need to selec t a specific
print option if you want to output to your
own printer.
Next choose the theme and then the Layout
for the card. You can pick between a range
of designs based on the occasion or event
the card is celebrating. Don't panic if the
position of the photos is not exactly what
you want as this can be changed later. Click
OK to create the card.
Adjust the position, size, shape and
orientation of the photos placed on the
greeting card using the corner and side
handles. See Chapter 18 for more details.
When finished click the Commit button
(green tick) at the bottom of the frame to
apply the changes.

Add tex t to the card by firstly clicking on the
TEXT heading in the Create task pane and
then selecting the Add Text Block entry. This
will add a text block to the card. Type your
text into the block. The font, style, size,
alignment, color and warp text values can
be adjusted with the options in the Settings
part of the Create panel. Text can be styled
by selecting the text block (not the type
itself) and double-clicking a STYLES entry.
Click the Switch to Advanced Mode button
(top left of workspace) and then Window >
Effects to display the Effects panel. Select an
object in the design such as a block of text
and then double click an entry in either the
Effects, Filters, or Styles lists to add the effect
to the object. Alter the look of characteristics
or shadows, strokes and bevels using the
controls in the Style Settings dialog accessed
by selecting the Edit Layer Style option from
the right-click menu.
Once the card design is completed you can
print the card with a desktop machine
connected to your computer by clicking the
Print button at the bottom of the workspace.
Selecting the Save button stores the photo
project and clicking the Order button
uploads the design to an online publisher
for printing.
