The Application of Project Isomerization Teaching
Method in Database Course Design

Abstract. We propose a teaching method taking project as the main theme and
isomerization as the soul by the long-term teaching practice of database course
design. This method emphasizes taking the project as center in the process of
course design, organizing teaching according to the organization method of real
project, and stresses the factors such as subject isomerism, personnel isomerism
and grading isomerism in the process of teaching. Practice proves that this
method can provide some help for students to improve their abilities in creation,
independence and cooperation, and be useful to other sectors of practice
teaching.

1 Introduction
Today, the database technology has become a necessary part of modern engineering
application, a research branch in the area of computer science, and almost all students
majoring in computer in the universities study database course, and many universities
offer database course as an elective course for students whose major is not computer.
Under both of the two situations, universities usually require students to make
database course design, or complete a term project with similar aim or conduct a
comprehensive experiment at the end of course to enable them to master relevant
knowledge. The course design is a comprehensive design in large scale which
students should make when they finish their courses. It is very important for students
to improve their abilities of hand-on practice, and it is a summarization of study and
basis of graduation project, and an important method to improve students' abilities in
resolving problems and innovation. So, the database course design plays a great role
in teaching.
The project isomerization teaching method is a scheme which can efficiently
organize course design proposed on the basis of experiences in the practice, namely a
teaching scheme taking project as the main theme and isomerization as the soul. This
teaching method can enable students to master the essential of course by the greatest
degree in limited time and with limited teaching resource, and it combines theory with
practice teaching organically, exploits the independent innovation ability of students
