sufficiently, enhances their comprehensive ability in resolving practice problems. This
paper introduces the project isomerization teaching method firstly, and then illustrates
its application process and result in the teaching.
2 The Project Isomerization Teaching Method
The project isomerization teaching method is a teaching activity performed through
actualizing a complete project, and teachers finish their teaching task step by step and
designedly in the whole teaching activity, they take project as the main theme and
isomerization as the soul. The teaching activity has five basic steps including project
proposing, project planning, project implementing, showing results and project
evaluating, and the idea of isomerism mainly is embodied in the aspects of task
isomerism, personnel structure isomerism and evaluation system.
2.1 The Basic Steps
1) Project proposing
In this stage, the tutors will propose the aim, steps and demands of whole database
course design, and advance the name of project, name of sub-projects or sub-task, the
characteristics of each sub-project and the abilities from which students could obtain.
Here, it should be explained especially that we divide the project into several parts,
and the requests and emphasis of cultivating abilities in each part aren't the same
completely, hence, each sub-project has its own characteristics, and students can
select some projects and sub-projects fitting to them according to their knowledge
level and interests, of course, students can also set the topic by themselves after being
affirmed by the tutors. The students are supervised in groups; three or four students
are put into one group, and one of them serve as project leader, students in the group
responsible for different work cooperate with others; and they complete design and
development task together.
2) Project planning
This part of work is completed mainly by students who fill in the planning leaflet and
make the plan. The teachers instruct and evaluate the project plans, help students to
control the time schedule to enable students to implement the project more efficiently.
3) Project implementing
This is the key step of whole teaching activity, and can be divided into five main steps
including demand analysis, concept structure design, logical structure design, physical
structure design, implementing, coding.
There into, the demand analysis requires that students should track down the
related reference by various ways and methods in the libraries, network, or relevant
organizations, departments, enterprises according to background and reference
information provided by teachers; analyze and dispose the data combining their own
experiences, draw the data flow charts of various layers and compile detailed data
dictionary. The teachers instruct students and evaluate the demand analysis reports.
The demand analysis is the basis of whole project, but we must understand that most
of course designs aren't entity project because of restriction of many objective
