In the Server text box, type Adventure Works . In the Database text box, type Adventure
WOrksDW2012Multidimensional-EE . In the Cube list box, select Sales. For this demo, keep
the default Authentication Unattended Service Account.

The Unattended Service Account is an Active Directory account that is used for accessing
PerformancePoint Services data sources. This account is used by PerformancePoint Services
on behalf of authorized users to provide access to external data sources for the purposes of
creating and using dashboards and other PerformancePoint Services content.

Note The Unattended Service Account is a universal account that provides equal data
access to all authorized users. If you need more fine-grained data access, see “Configure
Secure Store for use with PerformancePoint Services” at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/
library/jj819322.aspx .

Your information should appear as shown in Figure 8-20.

Note The Unattended Service Account and Provide The Authenticated User Name As A
Value Of The Connection String Property “CustomData” in the Connection option shown
in Figure 8-20 applies to Analysis Services only. The Per-User Identity option no longer
requires the Kerberos protocol if the PerformancePoint Service identity is an admin in SQL
Server Analysis Services. Kerberos is still a good choice, though, for applying security to
data sources.
