FIGURE 5-31 The arrangement of fields in the layout section controls the card visualization, except that
the default image always appears on the left side of the card, regardless of its position in the list of fields.
2. Drag the right border of the cards so that the fields display in a single row, as shown in
Figure 5-32.

Using KPIs
A popular reason to use BI is to monitor progress toward goals by displaying an icon to represent the
current state as positive, neutral, or negative. As we explained earlier in the “What's new” section, you
can create KPIs in Power View if your Data Model includes calculated fields. Another option is to use
KPIs that are already defined in a PowerPivot model.
Note If you are using Power View in SharePoint, you can also use KPIs defined in an
Analysis Services tabular instance.
Defining KPIs
If your data model already includes calculated fields, you can easily add KPIs to display in a table or
matrix. Let's add a KPI to compare actual reseller sales margins to a fixed goal of 15 percent.
On the PowerPivot tab, click KPIs and then, on the menu that appears, click New KPI.
1.
In the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dialog box, in the KPI Base Field (Value) list box select
Reseller Margin. Only calculated fields display in this list.
