In-Depth Information
FIGURE 5-18 You can easily change a matrix into a clustered bar chart.
Notice the arrangement of fields in the layout section for the chart, as shown in Figure 5-19.
You can change the appearance of the chart by replacing fields in the Values, Axis, or Legend
boxes. You can add multiple fields to the Values box, but at that point the Legend box is dis-
abled. You cannot add a separate field to the Legend box because the legend in the chart can
display only colors representing each field in the Values box.
FIGURE 5-19 You can arrange fields in the layout section to control the appearance of your visualization.
Configuring multiples
When working with any chart type (or even a map), you can create a grid layout to display the same
visualization with different data points. Let's modify the bar chart to display as horizontal multiples by
sales territory group.
In the View section, click the bar chart and then drag Color from the Legend box to the Axis
box in the layout section.
1.
Remove the SalesTerritoryGroup and SalesTerritoryRegion fields from the Axis box.
2.
Drag SalesTerritoryCountry from the Power View Field list to the Horizontal Multiples box. One
bar chart displays for each country, as shown in Figure 5-20. You must use the horizontal scroll
bar to view the additional countries not currently visible.
