visualization.
Defining the matrix layout
Although the appearance of the matrix in the View section matches the table immediately after the
conversion, the structure of the visualization changes. Now, let's configure the matrix to display sales
amount values by sales territory group on rows and by color on columns.
Remove the Average of Sales Amount field from the matrix by clicking the arrow that appears next
to the name in the layout section below the Power View Field list and selecting Remove Field.
1.
In the Power View Field list, click All to display all tables in the model, expand the Product
table, and then drag Color to the Columns box, as shown in Figure 5-14:
2.
FIGURE 5-14 You add a field to the Columns box in the layout to define the structure for a matrix.
Drag the right edge of the matrix to the right to see more columns, as shown in Figure 5-15.
Power View adds a total row for each column and row group. Because the full width of the
matrix is greater than the width of the View section, you must use the horizontal scroll bar
to view the totals for the row groups. You can choose to display totals for row groups only,
column groups only, or neither row groups nor column groups by selecting the desired option
in the menu that displays when you click the Totals button on the Design tab on the ribbon.
