This stately manor house, 6km south of town, is perfect for regal relaxation. Count Per
Brahe owned it in the 17th century, although today it's decorated according to its 18th-cen-
tury past, with chandeliers, brooding oil paintings and suits of armour. Some rooms even
have copper bathtubs. The surrounding woods are ideal for hikers and there's an adjacent
golf course.

Just nudging into the midrange bracket, this hotel is right in the centre of town in a hand-
some 18th-century building. Rooms have kept up with the times and are slick and modern
with a fashionable grey-and-white colour scheme.
Hotel Amalias Hus BOUTIQUE HOTEL
( 0390-413 23; www.amaliashus.se ; s/d from Skr1350/1690; )
Once owned by Amalia Eriksson, the creator of Granna's famous peppermint rock, this
hotel is just a doily short of being overly kitsch. Rooms are furnished with antique fur-
niture, old-fashioned wallpaper and lacy drapes.
Fiket BAKERY
( 0390-100 57; Brahegatan 57; sandwiches from Skr45; 8.30am-8pm)
The pick of Gränna's eateries is this time-warp bakery-cafe, complete with retro jukebox,
chequered floor and record-clad walls. Tackle tasty grilled baguettes, quiches, salads and
pastries, either indoors or on the breezy balcony.
