Step 2: Add new swatches to the color palette
Let's start with the hair. Record the brown color being used. This will be one of the
blended colors in the linear gradient applied in the next step. Open the Color Swatches
tab in the Color panel. Select the Eyedropper tool from the Tools palette. Click on the
brown hair. The color swatch appears in the Color Swatches panel (Figure 2.45).

Step 3: Add a linear gradient fill
Select the hair shape in front of the woman's face and add the grayscale linear gradi-
ent. Go to the Color Mixer panel. Double-click on the white (left) color pointer. Select
the light brown color swatch added in Step 2.
