In-Depth Information
Post by Email: Tumblr automatically generates a random e-mail address that
you can use to create posts by e-mail. To reset this e-mail address for secur-
ity purposes at any time, click the Reset button.
RSS Feeds: If your blog is public rather than private, the blog will have an RSS
feed that can be viewed at any time by adding “/rss” to the end of the blog
URL. To make feed viewers visit your blog to read full posts, enable the Trun-
cate RSS feed checkbox. If you use FeedBurner for RSS, you may link the RSS
of Tumblr to that account by putting a check in this check box and clicking
the FeedBurner link to sign in to your FeedBurner account.
Language: Select your desired language. English is the default setting for U.S.
accounts.
Timezone: Choose your time zone.
Directory: This section has two options. The Allow Search Engines to Index
Your Blog option is selected by default. Deselect it if you don't want your
blog indexed. NSFW stands for Not Safe For Work. If your blog includes expli-
cit content, check this box.
If for any reason you want to delete your account, click the Delete Your
Account link at the bottom of the listing.
3. When you've finished entering or editing your account settings, click the Save
button.
You may return to this page at any time to edit these settings.
Setting Your Account Preferences
The next place to go to customize how your Tumblr blog functions is Preferences. Fol-
low these steps to set your preferences:
1. Click the icon at the top of the page that looks like a round spoked gear.
The Preferences page appears, as shown in Figure 1-4.
