replies of any kind, leave both boxes unchecked.
• Ask: If you want visitors to ask questions that you can answer on your blog,
check this box, and a link to a new Ask page appears on your blog. You may
also customize the Ask page title and enable an option that allows anonym-
ous questions. To help you see how Ask inquiries look when they arrive,
Tumblr's Tumblrbot will instantly send a question to your Tumblr Inbox.
Tumblr recommends you use the Anonymous option with caution by
displaying a warning message that says anonymous comments can some-
times “get nasty.” In other words, if the comments get out of hand, turn this
feature off.
• Submissions: Check this box to allow people to Submit posts for possible
publication on your blog. Once clicked, a link for this option displays on
your blog. Submissions are good, for example, if you intend to showcase
themed content submitted by others, such as moustaches (see
lovestache.tumblr.com , for example). Once selected, you will see addi-
tional options to customize the Submissions page title, provide visitors with
submission guidelines, and choose which types of posts will be accepted
(text, photo, quote, link, or video).
When Ask and/or Submit options are enabled, an envelope icon that
displays in the upper-right area of your blog's Dashboard will indicate incom-
ing messages. You may then choose to respond to Ask messages publicly,
privately, or ignore them. Likewise, submissions may be published or not,
either with or without the sender's information.
• Facebook: Check this box if you have a Facebook account and want to share
your Tumblr posts on your Facebook page. Selecting this option opens
either a Facebook Log In window where you enter your Facebook e-mail and
password to log in and link accounts, or a Facebook window asking you to
Allow Tumblr access.
• Twitter: To link your existing Twitter account to Tumblr, check this box and
click the Sign In with Twitter button. When the Twitter authorization window
opens, enter your account information and click the Authorize App button to
log in and link your accounts.
