Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Town buses 2A, 2B, 70 and 71 run frequently between the city centre and the airport
(Dkr20).
BICYCLE
Free city bikes ( www.aalborgbycyklen.dk ) are available from various spots around town
from May to October (look for 'Bycyklen' signs). You put a Dkr20 coin into the slot to ob-
tain the bike, which is refunded when you return it.
Bikes can be hired from Munk's Eftf ( GOOGLE MAP ; 98 12 19 46; www.munk-aalborg.dk ;
Løkkegade 25; per day/week Dkr80/400) . Note, however, that the store is closed for most of
July.
BUS
For about eight weeks in peak summer (late June to late August) there is a free City
Circle bus running half-hourly from 10am to 6pm (until 2pm Saturday and Sunday). The
circuit takes in major sights such as the zoo, Kunsten and the waterfront.
Almost all city buses leave from south of JF Kennedys Plads and pass the city-centre
stops on Østerågade and Nytorv, near Burger King. The standard local bus fare is Dkr20;
buy tickets from the driver.
Information on tickets, routes and schedules is available at the helpful bus station in-
formation desk .
CAR
Car-rental companies Hertz, Avis and Europcar have booths at the airport or in town.
Apart from a few one-way streets, Aalborg is easy to travel around by car. There's free
(but time-restricted) parking along many side streets, and metered parking in the city
centre. There are also several large commercial car parks, including at Ved Stranden 11
(opposite the Radisson hotel), at Kennedy Arkaden (enter from Østre Allé), and under the
Friis shopping centre (enter from Nyhavnsgade). These aren't cheap (up to Dkr18 per
hour, maximum Dkr160 for a 24-hour period).
