Near Vesterstrand beach (about 1km north of the town centre), this green camping ground
has hedges for shelter, plus neat facilities, playground and bike rental. The small, cute, no-
frills huts are great if you'd like a roof over your head. Marstal and Søby also have camp-
ing grounds.
Pension Vestergade 44 GUESTHOUSE
( 62 52 22 98; www.vestergade44.com ; Vestergade 44; s/d without bathroom incl breakfast Dkr990/

The large timbered house was built in 1784 by a sea captain for his daughter. It's now
owned and run as a guesthouse by lovely Susanna (originally from England), and she gets
it right, down to the finest detail: the six rooms are decorated with period charm, the large
garden is delightful, and the breakfast comprises freshly laid eggs and homemade jam.
In a nutshell, it's close to perfect; booking ahead is advised.

APARTMENTS, CAFE
( 62 52 40 50; www.paatorvet.dk ; Torvet 7; d studio Dkr750-950; )
Friendly new owners have renovated a grand old building on the idyllic village square, and
turned it into a light-filled cafe-bar. They also rent accommodation in an annex at the back:
eight studio apartments, all with small kitchen and sitting area, and stylish furnishings.
Families should ask about the excellent, two-bedroom apartments (sleeping four) above
the cafe. Highly recommended.
