In-Depth Information
A solid choice, this is a small, family-run place in a quiet residential area near the river and
parkland, with cosy rooms and an inviting, plant-filled courtyard. Most rooms have private
toilets, but there are four cheaper singles that don't (Dkr450).

Odense's grand dame dates from 1897 and her exterior is still a head-turner; she's had a
skilful makeover in recent times, bringing the interior up-to-date, with lots of warm
chocolate tones in the crisp, business-style room decor. The location is good and the break-
fast excellent; the lovely lounge and brasserie areas are the best features. Online deals are
good.
Eating
The pedestrianised main street Vestergade houses several good restaurants and cafes, and
there's a cluster of buzzing bars/bistros around Kongensgade and in Brandts Passage.
Many stay open until at least midnight (often 2am or 3am on the weekend), but for drink-
ing only. Kitchens stop taking food orders at 9pm or 10pm.

Happiness, it turns out, is one of the rainbow-hued macarons sold from this tiny den of
sweetness. Or maybe happiness is the lemon and white-chocolate tart. Or the brownies. Or
possibly the homemade ice cream…
Bazar Fyn
INTERNATIONAL
( GOOGLE MAP ; www.bazarfyn.dk ; Thriges Plads 3; 10am-9pm Tue-Sun)
More than just a great place to buy groceries, Bazar Fyn offers an insight into the multicul-
tural side of Odense. The roofed market is about five minutes' walk from the train station.
There's fresh fruit and veg and deli items (stores close 6pm), plus a food court where you
can eat cheaply: Lebanese shwarma, Greek souvlaki, Indian curries, Vietnamese pho.
