In-Depth Information
Gilleleje Havn is an excellent modern option, with an open kitchen and satisfying, Danish-
inspired grub. Fish and seafood predominate, with solid choices including lobster-pimped
fish soup and Gilleleje Toast, a whisker-licking concoction of fresh seafood salad, shrimp,
roe and crab claws on toasted bread. Turf options include a pulled pork sandwich and
spare ribs with coleslaw and BBQ sauce.

Getting There & Around
Trains run between Hillerød and Gilleleje (Dkr60, 30 minutes), and between Helsingør and
Gilleleje (Dkr72, 45 minutes), once to twice hourly.
Tisvildeleje
Tisvildeleje is essentially a glorious sweep of golden-sand beach with a small seaside vil-
lage attached. The beach is backed by hills and forests, threaded through with nature trails.
You could easily spend several relaxing days here, sunbathing, swimming, strolling
through the woods, poking around the town's boutiques, and generally taking things very,
very easy.

BEACH
The Blue-Flag beach, a kilometre-long stretch of pure sand at the foot of the village, is the
reason people flock to Tisvildeleje. A shallow-sloping shore and lifeguards at the height of
summer make it a favourite with families. There are toilets and an ice-cream kiosk at the
edge of the large parking area. Other beaches are accessible a short walk away from town.
