Choose Select > Deselect.
Editing a character style
After creating a character style, you can easily edit the style formatting, and, anywhere the
style is applied, the formatting will be updated automatically.
Note
If the Font Family field is blank, choose Adelle Sans (or the font you
chose), then you can select a font style.

Double-click to the right of the Emphasis style name in the Character Styles panel
(not the style name itself). In the Character Style Options dialog box, make sure
that Preview is selected. Click the Basic Character Formats category on the left
side of the dialog box, and choose Regular from the Font Style menu. Click OK.
