Ground water dynamics play different roles at different evolution stages
of natural hydrocarbon accumulations. As will be shown, an environ-
ment with relatively elevated mobility of the water medium is needed for
their formation as it provides for fluid migration and accumulation. On
the other hand, for the preservation of already formed accumulations, it
is mandatory that the environment ground water have limited mobility or
a totally stagnant environment. Ground water, in terms of its mass, is the
main mobile component of the earth's crust medium of oil and gas habitat.
