This stylish 121-room waterside hotel, poking towards the sea like the prow of a ship, is
architecturally stunning with its odd angles, aluminium trim, pictures on bedroom ceilings,
sauna - and a top-floor hot tub where you can savour the picturesque harbour and moun-
tain views as you bubble and boil. Its restaurant too has great fjord views.
Radisson Blu Hotel Tromsø HOTEL

Nkr945/1195; )
Bedrooms have recently been comprehensively renovated and an attractive new wing has
been grafted onto the solid, rectangular block of the original building. Of its 269 rooms
(it's worth the Nkr100 extra for one in the new wing), around half have harbour views. It
runs a decent pub, the Rorbua, and a fine Arctic Menu restaurant.
Rica Grand Hotel HOTEL
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 77 75 37 77; www.rica.no ; Storgata 44; r Nkr790-1690; )
The Grand is Tromsø's oldest hotel, however there's little that's antique inside as the place
has twice burnt to the ground. Ask for a room on one of the brand-new top two floors.
There's a particularly ample breakfast with fresh fruit and hot dishes.
Eating
In Tromsø, the line is blurry between restaurants, cafes and pubs and many places function
in all three modes, simultaneously or at different times of the day.
