Rosendal
Pop 944
Separated from the rest of Hardangerfjord by high mountains and the Folgefonna National
Park, Rosendal sits picturesquely by the fjord with a close backdrop of high hills. Access
to the national park is easier from Odda and Jondal, but Rosendal has a good national park
centre and is a worthwhile destination in its own right.
Sights & Activities
The tourist office can advise on hiking, climbing, boat rental (per day/week Nkr400/1220
plus petrol) and horse riding, and it has a useful Cycling Trips in Sunnhordland brochure
for longer cycling excursions around the region.

examples of Meissen and Royal Danish porcelain. Outside there is a stunning Renaissance
rose garden. The Baroniet hosts excellent weekend concerts by eminent Norwegian musi-

ors, usually in late July.
You can also sleep here, in the farm annexe; dinners in the garden greenhouse can be
booked with concert and other event tickets.
