With only two rooms, this gorgeous place has an intimacy you won't find elsewhere.
Rooms are small and have scarcely changed in over 300 years - it's rustic in the best sense
of the word. Throw in friendly service, a lovely courtyard cafe and public areas strewn
with local antiques and curiosities, and it's all perfectly integrated into the Røros experien-
ce.
Røros Hotell HOTEL
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;

This 167-room colossus at the top end of town is popular with tour groups and has well-
appointed rooms. Styled as a mountain hotel, it has a touch more character than most lar-
ger hotels, at least in the public areas, but far less than the smaller Røros hotels.
Be aware that during very busy periods staff put people in the overflow accommodation
over the road - rooms here are little more than sheds (and they don't voluntarily reduce the
rates). Avoid these if possible.
Idrettsparken Hotell HOTEL
( GOOGLE MAP ;

The family-run Idrettsparken Hotell, 500m south of the train station, has a range of options
for most budgets and although it's not the most inspiring of places, the price is about right.
Erzscheidergården GUESTHOUSE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;

This appealing, very cosy 24-room guesthouse is up the hill from the town centre and be-
hind the church. The wood-panelled rooms are loaded with personality, the atmosphere is
Norwegian-family-warmth and the breakfasts were described by one reader as 'the best
homemade breakfast buffet in Norway'. We're inclined to agree.
