Geology Reference
In-Depth Information
When the Durham Colleges' Council met later that week, it
passed the buck back to the Academic Board with a thinly veiled
directive:
It was agreed that, if the Board recommended the re-appointment of Dr
Reynolds for an experimental period of one year, Council would agree.
The normal renewal period was for five years so it was a clev-
erly designed a¬ront to the Holmes when, after seven years of
lecturing in the Geology Department, Doris' contract was
renewed for a single ' experimental period of one year ', as if she was
on probation. It was obvious to the Holmes they were now being
punished for their previous misdemeanours and that their posi-
tion in the department had become untenable. It was time to
look for another post where their history was not so well known.
