Ylläs has 63 downhill slopes and 28 lifts, including special areas for snowboarders. The
vertical drop is 463m and the longest run is 3km. Cross-country skiing trails total 250km.

Mountain Biking
In summer Ylläs is popular with mountain bikers, and you can take your bike up in the
10am-4pm Sep & 10am-5pm late Nov-Apr)
, in the Taiga building at the base of the lifts on the
Ylläsjärvi side, rents bikes of all types (€15 to €30 per day).
Hiking

for a list. A couple of long-distance treks head to Olos or
Levi (54km and 50km); there are several shorter trails including the 12km
Kiirun-
ankieppi (Ptarmigan Trail)
from the Kellokas nature centre. Longer routes lead all the
way to Pallastunturi (72km) and from there to Hetta.
Tours
Various tour operators cluster in Äkäslompolo along the road near the Ylläskaltio hotel.
Most are open only in winter, and offer snowmobiling, reindeer safaris, snowshoeing and
husky treks.
Sleeping
Most accommodation is shut in summer, but there are plenty of cottages around.
Destina-
