This place, at the start of the Little Bear's Ring and a Karhunkierros trailhead, is a con-
venient spot to stay. There are several cabins, a couple of them available in winter, and a
cafe serving snacks and meals. There's also a sauna, and boats and bikes to hire.

This excellent wilderness lodge is just the place to rest weary legs, right on the Karhunki-
erros trail itself about 1km from Juuma (but 5.5km by car). Snug rustic rooms smell of
pine: larger ones are great for families and groups, with a roof space that can sleep extra
bodies, and a charming balcony overlooking forest.
There's a convivial bar and restaurant (lunch always on, dinner by prior arrangement),
sauna and Jacuzzi.
Friendly staff organise all sorts of daily activities: rafting, fishing and snowshoeing
among others. It gets cheaper if you stay more than one night; in low season it's worth ask-
ing for discounted rates. There's no internet and no kitchen facilities, but you can hire skis,
canoes, kayaks and more.
