Basecamp Oulanka RAFTING, WINTER

These guys are great for rafting trips on the Kitkajoki. The family-friendly Käylä-Juuma
trip lasts three hours (adults €36). The Wild Route (€49) lasts two hours and is for those
aged 18 and over, as is the longer trip to the border zone (€89). Winter activities include
snowshoeing and ice climbing. Conservation fee included.

Covers all the local rafting trips as well as fishing classes, canoeing and snowmobiling.
Kota-Husky HUSKIES

Excellent small-group husky excursions and picturesque kennels in an old barn. Based
north of Posio.
Erä-Susi HUSKIES, CANOEING

Hire canoes and kayaks from the Oulanka Visitor Centre in the middle of Oulanka Nation-
al Park. Prices include pick up or drop off. It also does guided trips. In winter there are
husky safaris from Ruka; in summer you can hike with huskies or visit their farm.
Sleeping
Ruka's very busy in winter; in summer it's great value. There are numerous apartments in
Ruka itself, and hundreds of cabins and cottages throughout the surrounding area. For cot-
