Sights & Activities
Although Pori is one of Finland's oldest towns, devastating fires (the last in 1852) mean
there are few historic buildings. The most distinctive are the neo-Renaissance Old Town
Hall ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; Hallituskatu 9) (designed by CL Engel in 1831), and neo-Gothic
Keski-Pori church ( MAP
GOOGLE MAP ;Hallituskatu 4;10am-1pm Mon-Fri) with its cast-iron
steeple.
Situated 17km northwest of Pori, Yyteri is a fabulous 6km-long powdery-sand beach
backed by dunes and forest, with family swimming areas, some of Finland's best windsurf-
ing and a naturist beach.
